Respect, community and courage
Great news at the HapKiDo club in Leibnitz:
On Sunday, 22 February 2026, the Kleine Zeitung (Süd & Südwest, page 33) carried a detailed report about our club – under the headline "Respect, community and courage".

More than just a combat sport
The article shows what we stand for as a club:
For us HapKiDo is not simply a sport – it is a school for life.
On the mat, children, teenagers and adults learn:
- respect
- discipline
- community
- courage
- mindfulness
- self-confidence
Around 40 girls and boys currently come to us regularly. With plenty of enthusiasm, energy and joy they grow beyond themselves week after week.
Body and mind in harmony
The article particularly emphasises that our goal is not competition, but all-round development.
"The aim is to strengthen body and mind and bring them into harmony."
– Mario Körbler, instructor and club chairman
Alongside the regular classes we also offer self-defense courses as well as dedicated formats specifically for women. In doing so we respond deliberately to developments in society and want to make people stronger – physically as well as mentally.
Rooted in Leibnitz for decades
Our club has been active in Leibnitz since 1982 and is part of the Hap-Ki-Do teaching system Kim Sou Bong. Over the years, countless students have been guided all the way to master grade – many of them are instructors or committed club members themselves today.
That continuity, combined with modern coaching, makes us particularly proud.
Thank you for the appreciation
A big thank you goes to the Kleine Zeitung and to the author Alexandra Kofler for the appreciative, authentic report about our work.
For us this publication is a lovely confirmation of what we experience every day:
when young people grow in confidence, go beyond what they thought they could do and feel part of a community, we know why we do this.
