Why Hapkido for children?

Why Hapkido for children?

πŸ₯‹ Why Hapkido is the perfect training for children – Hapkido Leibnitz introduces itself

Many parents look for a sport that offers not just movement, but also gives their child self-confidence, concentration and social strength. That is exactly where Hapkido comes in – a Korean martial art that is winning over more and more young people in Leibnitz. In our club the focus is not on competition, but on the all-round development of the child.

In this blog article we explain why Hapkido is ideal for young people, how our classes are structured and what parents should know about getting started, costs and training times.

πŸ‘¦πŸ½ Who is Hapkido suitable for?

Hapkido is a martial art for children of every type – energetic, shy, athletic or complete beginner.
One question we hear from parents especially often:

"My child is very introverted. Will it still help?"

Yes! Introverted children in particular benefit enormously from Hapkido. Through clear sequences of movement, small moments of success and positive group experiences, their self-confidence grows step by step.

Children with a lot of energy or hyperactivity feel at home with us too:

"My child is hyperactive – is this suitable?"

Yes, definitely. The combination of movement, discipline and structure helps them channel their energy and become calmer and more focused.

πŸ’ͺ🏼How does a session work?

Our sessions are varied and made up of:

  • Warm-up & coordination
  • Breakfall practice (rolling and landing correctly)
  • Striking, kicking and joint-lock techniques
  • Partner exercises & playful drills
  • Self-defense techniques
  • Short phases of concentration and calm

Our goal is to pass on a love of movement while promoting important values such as respect, discipline and team spirit.

⏰ Training times in Leibnitz

The sessions take place weekly and are grouped by age:

Children 6–10 years

  • Thursday: 17:30 – 18:30

Children 11–14 years

  • Tuesday: 18:15 – 19:15
  • Thursday: 18:30 – 19:30

For advanced students, twice a week is also possible by arrangement.
Adults come to two sessions per week in total.

πŸ‘• What clothing does my child need?

To get started, comfortable sportswear is enough.
Anyone who stays with it will need a Hapkido dobok (uniform).
That costs a one-off €22 to €25 and usually lasts several years.

🏷️ Costs & club membership

As a non-profit club we deliberately keep the fee low:
The membership fee is €25 per month – with no minimum contract and no commitment.
You can cancel at any time.

A free trial lesson can be attended at any time after a short registration.

πŸ‘€ Are parents allowed to watch?

Yes, of course. At the first session especially, it is often reassuring for a child if their parents are watching.
For longer-term participation, though, it is usually better for the group's concentration if parents wait outside the hall – but we handle that flexibly, depending on the situation.

🎯 The goals of our Hapkido classes

Hapkido is an all-round system of movement that develops far more than physical fitness alone. Our focus areas:

  • Strengthening coordination, mobility and power
  • Building self-confidence and courage
  • Promoting discipline and the ability to concentrate
  • Learning real self-defense techniques
  • Developing a healthy body awareness
  • Enjoying sport in a safe, respectful environment

For many young people Hapkido becomes more than just a hobby – it becomes a valuable companion through life.
