Today was a special day for our young HapKiDo students. With plenty of commitment, discipline and staying power, they passed their gradings. The content tested ranged from the 1st to the 4th children's grade.
For many of them it was their first big grading in a martial art. The tension beforehand was high – and so was the joy once it was over.

First belt grading passed – the next one is coming up
The first belt grading has already been completed successfully. That step is particularly important, because it marks the start of a young person's personal development in HapKiDo.
The second grading is already just around the corner and will take place this Thursday. Everyone is preparing intensively for it and gathering more valuable experience along the way.
HapKiDo for children: more than just a sport
HapKiDo is not only a martial art, it is also an important part of growing up. On the mat they learn:
- discipline and concentration
- respect towards others
- self-confidence and staying power
- body control and coordination
These abilities have an effect well beyond the dojo – in everyday life, at school and in their social environment.
Personal development through martial art
A central aspect of our classes for children is the development of the personality. They learn to take on challenges, to deal with mistakes and to keep working on themselves.
Gradings in particular show how much a young person can grow in a short space of time – physically as well as mentally.
Support from parents and the community
An important factor in that success is the support of the parents. They accompany their child along this path, motivate them and create the basis for practising continuously.
The community within the group plays a big part too. They learn from each other, support one another and grow together.
Conclusion: gradings passed as an important milestone
The gradings passed in HapKiDo are an important step in every young person's development. They show that commitment and discipline pay off.
With the next grading on Thursday, the path goes on. There will be more experience to gather and more progress to make, step by step – in sport and in life.
