Why strong children need more than a smartphone
New book by HapKiDo instructor Mario Körbler out in April
As an instructor at HapKiDo Leibnitz, Mario Körbler sees every day how much potential young people carry inside them. When they move, discover their limits, master challenges and gather real experience, they grow beyond themselves. They become more focused, more confident and stronger inside.
At the same time, as an IT entrepreneur he sees a very different reality: teenagers who spend all day on their smartphones – yet who get stuck on basic digital tasks such as creating a mail merge or setting up a sensible folder structure. They consume technology. But they do not master it.
And it starts even earlier: two-year-olds are already being put in front of screens on a regular basis.
Those observations are what made him write a book.
Movement shapes character
Every session shows again what really makes a child stronger:
- physical activity
- discipline
- clear rules
- direct social interaction
- real moments of success
A child who learns to fall and get back up develops resilience, self-confidence and staying power.
HapKiDo is far more than self-defense – it is personal development.
The new book
April 2026 sees the release of the book
„Die Kunst im Chaos zu erziehen“ – The Art of Raising Children in Chaos.
In it, Mario Körbler does not argue against technology, but for a conscious and responsible way of using it. Young people should be able to understand digital media and put them to use – without losing sight of their own development.
At its heart are questions such as:
- How much smartphone time is healthy?
- How do young people build real digital skills?
- How can a family find balance in everyday life?
- How do we strengthen confidence and personal responsibility?
For a healthy, strong childhood
Experience from the mat, from running a business and from family life all flow into this book. It is an impulse for parents: accompany your child not only through the digital world, but make them strong physically, emotionally and mentally.
